Education Subcommittee Recommendations for Process Safety Course
 
"Plant Security"

Due to the events of September 11, we are recommending all Process Safety Courses place an additional emphasis on plant security beginning this semester. Our recommendations are as follows.

LONG TERM:

The education subcommittee will be developing some materials to supplement the Process Safety instructor materials and workbooks. At this time we do not know whether that will be included in the workbook or put on the website for instructor access.

SHORT TERM:

We recommend using the materials developed by the American Chemistry Council: "Site Security Guidelines for the U. S. Chemical Industry." This is a 59 page document that can be downloaded at the American Chemistry Council website.

From our discussions, the following questions came up for either classroom discussion or Internet exercise:

• What is plant security?
• Why is plant security an issue?
• What are the issues involved in plant security?
• What are the benefits?
