The meeting was opened by Steve Ames and the participants introduced themselves.

Approval of last meeting minutes - Minutes approved 6-25-99

Subcommittee - Funding - Troy Waters and Steve Ames
The Student Workbooks for the Safety, Health & Environment and Introduction to Process Technology courses are estimated to cost $30.00 each, (price includes bookstore costs). The Instructor Guides for the Safety, Health & Environment , Introduction to Process Technology, and Instrumentation courses are estimated to cost $150.00 for each guide. These books are expected to be ready soon. More information on this subject the first of August.

Subcommittee - Rules & Bylaws - Merv Treigle
The Gulf Coast Process Technology Alliance will be getting its non-profit organization, 501 (C)3, qualification should arrive soon. Bylaws have been revised and were voted on and approved - 12 members at meeting and 5 via e-mail or fax.

Subcommittee - Public Relations - Karen Baird
Next Career Expo will be Friday, February 11, 2000. Next newsletter, Issue 8, will go out in November. Graduates with two-year degrees and are looking for a job, please send a disk copy of resume formatted in Microsoft Word 6.0 or better to:

These resumes will be posted on the GCPTA web site. Graduates must be willing to relocate. Please create a privacy agreement form for all graduates to sign if they would like to have their resumes posted on the Internet. Make sure to send a signed copy of the privacy agreement form with the disk. New GCPTA logo is being discussed.

Subcommittee - Vendor Relations - Jim Gardner
Meetings for this subcommittee will be scheduled as needed. ATR Software - training on new software will be held in July at College of the Mainland. For more information, call Jim Gardner at 409-938-1211 ext. 581.

Texas Skills Standards Board - Lee Rector
Texas has guidelines that have been approved. For guidelines, call Steve Ames at 281-834-4492. Ideas of the TSSB and the GCPTA working together will be discussed at the upcoming Skills Standards Subcommittee meeting. The Skills Standards Subcommittee, chaired by Cathy Williams-Foster will be meeting. Meeting logistics will be determined at a later date. NSF Grant Update - Joanna Kile
Four new positions will be funded by the NSF Grant. The new positions are: Program Assistant (Full Time), Senior Instructional Designer (Full Time), Curriculum Developer (Half Time), Distance Learning Instructional Technologist (Half Time). NSF Grant activities start September 1, 1999. For more information about positions or for job descriptions, please call Valerie at 281-834-0766.

Distance Learning - Jim Gardner for Duncan Welder
This subcommittee will be meeting to discuss the NSF Grant. Meeting logistics will be determined at a later date.

Perkins Grant Update - Troy Water for Barry Hardy & Denise Navarro
Materials for the first three Process Technology courses will be ready for the Fall semester.

Course Development for Louisiana - Cathy Williams-Foster and Don Luenser
Texas has two courses that are under Louisiana review: Intro to PTEC, Safety and Instrumentation I. Louisiana has two courses that are under development: Plant Equipment/PTEC I and Instrumentation II. These courses will be piloted at area colleges.

The status of the International Process Technology Alliance - Dr. John Reed
Established at Second National Process Technology Conference in January. Work in progress - Interim chair, board members and subcommittee to develop: Mission, goals, scope, structure, funding, bylaws, meetings, curriculum, public relations. Participation from seven states and subcommittee reports are due in August. Next IPTA meeting is September 28, 1999 in New Orleans at the Fairmont Hotel. Visit the web site at: www.processtech.org

Alliance Video by LarMar Video Productions Inc. - Call 225-869-8015 or by e-mail larmar@stargazer.net. Alliance will get 10 copies of video free, the video will be sold to Alliance members. Video will be ready soon.
