The meeting was opened by Steve Ames and the participants introduced themselves.

New Members

Approval of last meeting minutes - Minutes approved November 19, 1999

Subcommittee - Funding - Steve Ames
Committee gave the Education Sub-committee members a new student handbook to review called "Glossary of Petrochemical Process Technology Terms." Sub-committee members will review the Glossary and report back to Gary Hicks.

Subcommittee - Rules & Bylaws - Merv Treigle
Merv reviewed changes to Rules and Bylaws. All voting members present voted yes. Those voting members not present will be contacted for their vote. Note: Including the members present, a total of 24 voting members voted for the proposed changes in the GCPTA Bylaws. The revised GCPTA Bylaws were adopted on December 28, 1999.

Subcommittee - Public Relations - Karen Baird
Next Career Expo will be Friday, February 11, 2000. Next newsletter, Issue 8, will go out in January. Chuck Eckhart of Celanese will pay for the postage, and Jim Gardner will help put the newsletter together.

Texas Skills Standards Board - Cathy Williams-Foster
The advisory committee of the GCPTA will report to the Texas Skills Standards Board. If anyone is interested in membership for this subcommittee, contact Cathy at 409-938-1211, ext. 102 or at cfoster@mail.mainland.cc.tx.us.

NSF Grant Update - Joanna Kile
Cathy Williams-Foster reviewed stages of the course development of the project. PT1, PT2, and PT3 will need Subject Matter Experts (SMEs). NSF Grant activities started September 1, 1999.

Distance Learning - Duncan Welder
Scott Bruno reviewed LAAP Grant activities. This project will need pictures of plant equipment (pumps, valves, heat exchanger, etc). If any member can supply or arrange for pictures to be taken of this type of equipment, give Scott a call at 281-488-1128.

Financial Report - Steve Ames
$2000 in checking and Lee College accounts. About $5000 worth of instructors guides on shelve and out to colleges for purchase. Year 2000 membership subscriptions to the GCPTA will be going out in February 2000.

New Business
Mike Kukuk has developed an Instructor Guidebook on Trouble Shooting. It will be available in the spring of 2000. He will conduct an instructor workshop in January 2000 for those who purchase his book.

Registration Fee was raised from $23.00 to $30.00 per person for future regular meetings.

Officers Elections
Steve Ames was re-elected as President, Merv Treigle was elected Secretary, and Ed Stiles was elected Treasurer.
